Anyone cheerleaders here

Any Americans here who became cheerleaders to get some shoulder rides?
I'm from Australia so I would have loved to do if I could have. But would love hear any stories.

Re: Anyone cheerleaders here

I was a cheerleader  but that was almost 20 years ago.We were  not  quite as athletic as the cheerleaders  are in todays competitions.  Being one of the smaller girls,  I was  often the top of the  pyramid  . Boy had just started to be included at that time . I liked that because it was safer  for  me.
But we  didn't normally sit on the guys shoulders  long enough to call it a ride.
Sometimes  a new guy  had to be tested in the tryouts  and someone,  usually one of the bigger  girls or  even another boy would sit on the new guy's shoulders  longer to make sure he could handle  the weight/

This testing seems to be quite interesting.

It was just part of the tryouts . The boy cheerleaders  were always  the base  in performances .
The  girls being lifted on  there shoulders  or jumping  up there  from behind  was expected.
The guys would  always have to catch the  girls who dropped into their arms  from the top of a pyramid of other elevated position and be strong enough to catch her smoothly  without showing stress when she landed in his arms.
In  some maneuvers, a girl  could  be sitting on his shoulders  with another girl on her shoulders  or she may have to sit on just one of his shoulders.
Obviously the  boy must be strong enough to take  her weight , keep  smiling  and have the stamina to move to the next  positions.
Having one of the heavier girls or one of the guys sit on him and get carried  for some distances sometimes was  a test of his ability as well as  exercise.
Being one of the smaller girls I wasn't chosen to  test them very often   but  I was interested because I was often at the top of a  pyramid etc. and I had to  fall on a guy from sometimes 15 feet or  more and land in his arms.
If he didn't catch me I landed on the ground unless I was fortunate enough to land on him  to break my fall.
Occasionally a  girl  would land on a guy who collapsed  under her  in  practice  and even get hurt.
I was  lucky because  that never happened to me.

Re: Anyone cheerleaders here

You are so right ..
Even I have seen many Youtube videos of the same..but obv not of testing.

I wish I was in USA, and being one of the Boy at the base.
Too Good to be there in the position, and too good to be tested by some heavy girl.

Audrey you are one of the kind of Women riders, that every horse wants.

Thanks for being in this group and interacting with us.

Regards

Trigger.

Thank you for those kind words. I think I should  stress  that the boys serving as  bases in  the performances often had to withstand the weight of multiple people on their shoulders,  usually standing on their shoulders  rather than just sitting on them. It was for  relative short durations of course  but they had to stand firm, keep  smiling and be prepared  to  move to another position as soon as the formation on them  came down.

I know  that a few of the guys did enjoy having  girls on their shoulders etc  but  most of the  girls were more into  the football players and other jocks (it was a  status/popularity thing)  and in my  senior year, I knew of at least two  of the guys   were also more interested in  the  football players and other jocks.
