Today I saw the closing ceremonies of Olympic games. In the process that atheletes entering the stadium, there wasn´t many shoulder rides. I saw 3 or 4 shoulder rides - not more.

Yeah, true. There weren't a lot of rides at all. Sydney 2000 was so much better in that aspect. But that may also be because the camera wasn't focused all the time on the athletes because it was such a spectacular closing ceremony. And I only caught a glimpse of the major countries like the US, Britain, Australia, Germany and France etc where I'm sure there were plenty of shoulder rides.

I just saw the closing ceremonies for the games..It finished about half an hour ago...I saw this through a channel we have here called the CBC..Later tonight , NBC(united states)will show us the closing ceremonies..Here in Canada,we woould always make fun of the united states, cause their cameras would only show the american athletes, and very few other athletes from around the world..Well,thanks to CBc our countries main network, they only showed very little athletes, mostly only from Canada...And nothing else...Yes,some of the females were on the males shoulders..At least they showed this..However,it was a disgusting display, and low class from CBC not to show 99.99999% of any athlete..What they showed us was the singing and performance on stage..No athletes, unless they interviewed a couple from inside the stadium...They seem to be getting worse and worse these closing ceremonies..The good ones are a distant memory..Even trying to search for photos on the internet,we will only have few to see,as we do each time an olympics have passed..I am sure there were shoulder rides ,and quite a bit of them..It's just that our feed of showing the ceremonies did not want to show the athletes..Terrible..Hopefully,the NBC tonight feed for us will show something better..Even though the americans will only concentrate on their athletes,at least they will show more of their athletes,as what Canada showed for us here..Showing 20 or so athletes from Canada and no one else is pathetic...Let's see,,4,500 athetes in the games, and they show us 20 at the most...Amazing..I think they knew we shoulder ride fans were waiting to see something better...Terrible,just terrible..

I have no idea if the closing ceremony was better or not compared to other olympics - but I posted 18 pictures (mainly canadian team and UK, France, Poland).
Any idea who is the good-looking lady on the 2nd UK team picture ?
cheers,

Hi xxx123yyy,
Thanks for posting those wonderful pics. Actually the in the 2nd pic the riders are from australia. You can see those pics clearly in the video slide show at this site
http://www.theage.com.au/multimedia/beijing08/closi … /gallery.html
(its at 2:45 and 2:35 mark I believe).
I was really dissapointed by the NBC highlight of closing ceremony. It seems there were many wom rides but I hardly found a couple of rides that too for a brief period. Athens was better. Hopefully some fan will upload the wom rides of the closing ceremony on youtube.

Thanks anelka for your appreciation. I would like to know how the Closing ceremony telecast was for our friends in Asia and Europe. Its a pity that most of the nations relayed live closing ceremony while in US there were only highlights which ofcourse didnt cover all the wom rides :-(.
Looking forward to other sources/pics/videos for closing ceremony wom. If I found anything I will definitely share with everyone.

Its a 10 min clip. Thats the same one they showed on NBC on sunday night.
click on Closing Ceremony: Athletes' parade link. The wom is at 4:13, 5:04 and 8:18. Does anyone know who is the US female athlete at 5:04. Is it Lauren Crandall).

desfan,it is obviously that this link you've just posted isn't available for oversea users,so could you post that 10 min video and share it with all of us?
Thanks! Everone in our group must be fond of your video.

Hi, I just added some more pictures from the closing ceremony.
I agree with all of you: most TV stations were focussed on the dancers and drummers not so much on the athletes.
I hope that some of our US members can post the video from the NBC site to our video section. This is especially important and interesting since there are no pictures on the internet to find with US team members (on shoulders of course) which is quite unusual for such a closing ceremony.
Thanks to Canada - their athletes know how to celebrate ![]()
cheers, enjoy
