Shoulder riding competition

A have an idea for a competition which would serve as a real demonstration of prowess on the part of the carriers. In fact it would probably be quite challenging like a marathon or iron man and not for the faint of hear. It would be lengthy, take at least an hour to complete, would involve climbing steep hills and traversing difficult terrain, wading through waist deep water and would also involve a sprint on flat ground. Any thoughts?

Re: Shoulder riding competition

A good idea-but care would have to be taken with the riders-they would have to be all the same weight-I suppose the smaller ones could carry weights.
The real problem is location-to get enough people together-has any one any idea where most of our members are located?
Job for admin?
It would also the useful to publish a list of members and their locations and sex.
Not in great detail-perhaps-UK sou east male.
Something like that-then the ones in a particular area might want to contact each other.
Just a thought!.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

Obviously rider & carrier would have to train as a tem. The rider would have to train because she would have to be as light as possible.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

there could be a scoring system to equalize the riders weight.

Answer
1) USA
2) The list of members is available to everyone. Just click on "Members". You will notice that, the waste majority of our members never posts.
3) Bonus members are asked to reveal their location. However, the given location might not be their real location.
4) No way to tell. Some "only for women" forums use voice verification, but that verifying system can be cheated if you really want to.
5) Would be a very, very time demanding task for the admins. Almost impossible to do. It´s easier to ask members from a certain area to respond to a message.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

Gunde-

I see what you say-having had a quick look at the members list 70% post nothing.
Would it not be possible to make it mandatory for menbers list to include location and sex-would be interesting to find out-might weed out the dead wood.
or am I being to nosey.

Mastadon99
Making it mandatory to reveal location and gender would only scare people away from our forum. I bet, that the members with no or limited skills in English, would not even understand what they are supposed to do.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

I agree with Mastadon99 ........... Making it mandatory to reveal gender could be boring for female members if they had to reveal their e-mail as well, which would expose them to possible harassment from male "horses"... However, as it is not the case, revealing one's gender is not a problem for anyone ... And stating in which country you live is not a big issue either  ... Nobody will be able to find out who is Mr /Ms   xyz, female, living in Australia ...

Or am I wrong ?

Re: Shoulder riding competition

It makes sense to me. The information currently left by our lady members is insufficient for me to find them at any real location. Besides, Gunde, some with little or no English skills use language translation websites and are motivated by this website to learn English.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

Equidium and Sam
I was away for a few days, so I couldn´t answer this sooner.

We could make it mandatory for members to reveal gender and location as we currently ask bonus members to do. My point is, that there´s no point in doing so. For instance, I could claim to be a blonde, busty woman from Iceland and there´s no way for anyone to check that out.

If and when someone claims to be a woman on the net, then there´s always a risk of that person pulling your leg.

Re: Shoulder riding competition

You are right-we have no way of checking-for all you know-I could be a WTA-who likes playing with a keyboard.
On reflection you might be right.
