What do you like to wear when carrying? Do you like to be shirtless or wear a shirt? Or have saddles on?
What do you want your rider wear? Do you want to feel her/his skin on your neck/head?

I prefer to be in my swimsuit,at sea and have a girl in bikini on my shoulders.
That's the best way in my opinion.

Do you mean you like to wear swimming trunks or with top as well?

Like Borat ?

Without top, just the trunks,Borat is a comedy movie.
But here,in Greece, you can't ask a girl to ride on your shoulders,if you are not a friend or relative to her,she will simply refuse.
I don't know what are they afraid of,but they are way too conservative.

I prefer that she is wearing miniskirt or mini-dress and sandal or high heel or barefoot shoe.

Hi Hong!
I prefer to wear my sweater with a hood, but a t shit is ok. Are there saddles for shoulder riding? if yes, and my female rider would prefer I wear one saddle on my shoulders, I would wear one.
I would prefer my female rider wear jeans and high heeled boots.
What about your preferences, Hong?

Forgive my commenting here since I'm exclusively a rider.
But there are saddle type devices available in fetish catalogues in various configurations for shoulder, back and a piggyback type of carry. They tend to be rather expensive and from what I can see require a custom fitting and an awkward position for the carrier in the shoulder riding types.
Personally, I can't see why any rider would prefer sitting on such a contraption rather than sitting directly on the carrier. Any padding on such a saddle would not likely be more comfortable than the muscles and flesh of the person he/she would otherwise be sitting on and anyone who is inhibited by the idea of sitting in contact with the shoulders or back of the person beneath them should perhaps ride horses instead.

Hi Audreyb
Then there are saddles for piggyback rides and shoulder rides?. You said you prefer to ride on a guy shoulders without any saddle Audreyb. But maybe a saddle could be useful for a rider's comfort. What if you were riding on the shoulders of a very slim and skinny guy? Maybe the bones of his shoulders would make you feel uncomfortable. A saddle could be useful.

Dragon: I can't say with any authority that all saddles would be less comfortable than sitting directly on the carrier's shoulders or back as the case may be. I can only say that from what I have seen, I would not personally choose to ride that way. If the carrier were obvious skinny and sitting on his bony shoulders was uncomfortable, (assuming I chose to ride such a person)I can hardly imagine I would feel more secure or comfortable sitting on him with the added weight of a saddle.
I have seen drawings and photos of actual chairs affixed to the backs of carriers with riders sitting upon these chairs/seats facing backward, away from the carrier. I believe such arrangements were used in some Asian countries with people of wealth being carried by peons or possibly slaves. I have no knowledge concerning whether any such arrangement was common.
Personally, I would not like traveling backward that way for any distance.
I believe I could find a way to sit comfortably on even bony shoulders if I had no better option and simply give my carrier more frequent rest periods. If he lacked the muscles to be comfortable sitting on them, it's unlikely he would withstand the weight of an adult sitting on him for any length of time anyway.

I agree with you, I would never use any gear on my horses, I want him shirtless and I am bare legs so I can feel every move of his muscles!

I always let the rider wear what they wont to wear what ever they are comfortable in.

I basically agree with your view. Flesh on flesh may have some erotic connotations in general,
but the practical aspect can't be denied.
The carrier doesn't become chaffed by the fabric you might be wearing which could have seams or other irritants and flesh on flesh will normally slip less than fabric on fabric.
The movement of his muscles beneath you is not only pleasant but also gives the rider indications of the carriers condition such as if he really needs a break/rest period or if he's just slacking off.

AudreyB, How often do you ride your ponies to exhaustion.

mastadon777:
I don't ride my carriers to exhaustion very often but I do demand a ride long enough to make it worth the time.
One of the guys I date prefers to carry me in the all fours position indoors. I allow him to wear knee pads to prevent rug burn from the carpet.
He becomes very tired after only 10 mins or so and I let him rest in place until he can crawl again. I just sit on him while he's resting but unfortunately he's not very strong and has fallen under me several times. It's a little frightening sometimes to feel him drop but it doesn't hurt because I land on him rather than the floor. A few times I had to get off because he couldn't get up with me on his back. I made him try several times but when he failed on those occasions I had to get off and send him home.

Thank you for your comments Audreyb, you are a considerate rider.
Do you find that shoulder riding is more satisfying than on all fours mainly because of the more control the rider has over his mount. The rider on all fours never has a secure seat on his mount and therefore control is missing. Agree?.
Offline
mastadon777:
I find shoulder riding far more practical than riding him on all fours. I have the same control sitting on him either way.
I only have the control the carrier allows since he always has a choice to carry me or not and to obey or not.
Only an actual slave could be denied either choice unless some form of physical force could be used to force him to comply.
I have neither the desire or ability to force such compliance.
