Hi all,
even if it is bad quality and probably the majority of the sr are m-o-m (there should be some w-o-m as well) it is maybe the largest number of "parallel sr's" I have ever seen.

By the way: closing ceremonies @ olympic games are a cery good source to find sr. I remeber the 1988 Games Closing ceremony as being the ones that had such an unbelieveable high number of sr that I was amazed !!
Especially I remember the canadian swimmer Carolyn Waldo (gold medal in synchronized swimming single and pairs), she sat on a team members (?) shoulders and was filmed for about 2 min from a mobile camera right in front of the two. And there were some Soviet (female) athletes who were very georgeous and sat on their team members shoulders - even some w-o-w included. Amazing.
Can anyone of our members from South Corea try to find a good quality archive that offers a record of this 1988 closing ceremony? Youtube is not very helpful ...
cheers,

The closing ceremonies were great to find athletes on other athletes...However,over the years this has not been too succesfull..You were right about the 1988 games..After those games, the shoulder rides almost went downhill..It also has something to do with the tv not showing them...I never ever expect anything from the games anymore..There has not been much to report since 1988..
The best closing ceremonies which I have ever seen were from different type of events..
1984 summer games in Los Angeles...We will never see this much shoulder rides..ABC had the games back then, before NBC took over..
The commenwealth games in Edmonton over 25 years ago...By the way,not all countries are in these games..Not even the USA...This had to be the best of all time which had closing ceremonies..It seems almost every female athlete was shoulder riding every guy possible..The camera was great showing everything ,and not moving quickly not to show the ride...
Other closing ceremonies...There is a french canadian channel which used to show the Jeau (something)events..This dealt every summer or two summers..It has athletes competing from the province of Quebec and other provinces here in Cananda..The ages were around 12 to 20..Amazing memories about these events..However,our channel do not show these events again..They were moved some place else which we cannot view any more..Too bad...
Also, the Canada summer games..this guarantees shoulder rides..But in the last few years, the camera has not shown as much as in past years...
Too many other to list, but can't remember them all..

Thanks for this thread right before the next summer Olympics.
Vaggelli, do you think you can find any footage on e.g. youtube of any of the past time events you have mentioned? Your descriptions sound tempting...

Hi, vageli!
Could you ascertain the correct name of this event. I think there must be pictures in the web of such a regular event.

No shoulder rides there. Just Tae Kwon Do.

Louie and Walter,
Believe it or not,you know me very well by now I am sure..If there were any photos from this event,I would surely had posted them..I tried many different type of searches..not really hard..I am doing closing ceremonies of 1978 Edmonton commenwealth games..I have tried for years..There is nothing out there..The greatest amount of shoulder rides of any closing ceremonies in any event..If there is anyone that can maybe search for another type of search term for this event, and find something,I would love to see this..The 1978 commenwealth games is another search term I use,as I don't have to put Edmonton in that term...Oh well, some things maybe just do not exhist on here:(

Sam, you are right - and not.
To be honest you have to watch the video very carefully. During their routines they carry a large number of Tae Kwon Do fighters on the shoulders. It starts with crushing small plates of wood (?) held by one standing on the ground and ends up with crushing plates that were held from the one on top of such a small sr pyramid.
Bad video quality indeed - I wouldn't found it if I did not remeber exactly what happend that time. I watched the opening ceremony 1988 on TV.
cheers.
