Well,it is world youth day again..they have this event every couple of years..Basically you have youths from all over the world comming all together in a spiritual way,and trying to see and hear as what the pope will be expressing to all the Christians..however,there are other people there that do not follow what the pope expresses,and other people that are not christians..All in all,what you have is a lot of shoulders rides here and there as people line up all over the streets to try and get a view of the pope..I had gone for world youth day when it was in my city of toronto in 2002...thousands of shoulder rides took place,as I took quite a load of picutres at that event and put them in our group..Only the members who were in Scotty's group at yahoo do remember..Speaking of Scotty..This years event takes place in Australia,and Scotty never mentioned anything of the event..No harm though,as I will be searching for photos all over the net..In the catholic channel on my dish,the event was seen...A few great shoulder rides took place..They were showing girls on guys shoulders ,just waiting and lining up on the streets, when the pope's pope mobile would pass their way and direction..Great thing about these scenes on tv,was the behind view of these very pretty girls/women on the boys shoulders..I was glad to fill you guys in about this event,as now we can start looking on the net for pictures...

Yes - it is World Youth Day in Australia, but unfortunately the big event is happening in Sydney. which is around 950 kms from where I live in Melbourne. It is just too far away - at least 8-9 hours drive even though it is now a Freeway that connects the two cities. Sydney and Melbourne are the two biggest cities in Australia, and both are on the Eastern seaboard with 3 1/2 million people in Sydney, and just over 3 million in Melbourne. The Papal visit, although it is big news here, is only coming to Sydney, so all of the pilgrims and followers from around the world have migrated en-masse to Sydney for the big event.

I am not sure what news coverage there has been overseas, but from the bits I have seen not too many shoulder rides are evident. It is still deep in the middle of Winter here, although Sydney has a slightly warmer climate than Melbourne, whos Winters are very cold & dull.

Alas I am not good at finding good scenes on TV, and even less so capturing them. I hope all the more so that you, Vaggelli, and other members more astute than I am, will find us a good sampling. And please, post some on the part accessible to non-bonus members like me.

You can give a full profile and become a bonus member. In addition to that all you have to do is participate in discussions. We can also help you post videos or photos if you ask for help. On myspace, youtube, or getty images I doubt you need to worry about copyright violations because that all is open to the public anyway so long as you do not try to sell any of it or represent it as your creation.

Thank you. Meanwhile, in the wom picture gallery I could access, I posted a view of the Pope's arrival in Toronto for the 2002 World Youth Day. One can see that there were many girls riding shoulders, as Vaggelli said.

Thank you very much, Louie! I will write about past experiences as soon as I can; for now, I am not very well (horrible toothache!).
It may be of relevance that previously, I have been "pauluseugenius," and a bonus member. I lost the ability to connect as a bonus member when I canceled the Yahoo identity on which it was built.

If any of our bonus members is about to delete his old identity and create a new one like paulusgenius did, it would be a good idea to send an admin an email about it. If you inform one of us in advance, then we can grant bonus membership for your new identity once you have rejoined the forum.
