Eroticism or not?

It's  obvious that  there are many aspects  to  riding on  someone's shoulders and  equally that of  carrying someone  on  your  shoulders.
To  state  the  obvious,  it  can be  completely  utilitarian, simple  innocent fun, part of a  performance  such as  dancing or  cheerleading, practicality such as  elevating someone for a  view,  or it  might  be erotic on  the part of either or  both parties  which  could  include domination and  submission with  either  the  rider or  carrier taking  control of  the  other.

I'm  quite aware  that some  people find  it  erotic  to  have  someone's legs astride  their head and neck  and perhaps equally so  to  have another  person's  head/neck between  their thighs. Bearing someone's  body weight  or  having someone bear  yours  may  be  dominant  and/or erotically  dominant  for  those  inclined  in  this direction. I need  not mention  the  obvious  implication of  the  proximity of genitalia  to  the person  one is  sitting  on  or being  sat  upon.

As I  have said before,  I  believe  that  the act  of  carrying  or being  carried in this manner  is   exactly and  only  what each party  perceives  it  to  be  and  whatever  enjoyment  might  be taken from  either  position  need  not be  mutual  or   assumed to be mutual  and  could  be a  completely private matter  for either or  both  parties involved.

I  recently  considered this  while  talking to  a  friend on the  subject  and in  contemplating some remarks  I  had  previously  made here  on this  forum.  Remembering  how  my  first  shoulder riding outing with  this  friend  on  a  barrowed  carrier  started  with  me  being  almost  apologetic ,  to rather  resentful and  demanding  and ultimately  to one of general indifference toward  the man  assigned  as  my  carrier.

Now  I'm  curious if other  riders and carriers  have similar  feelings  or experiences  and  if their  feelings  and  motives are generally  always  the same  or if they  change when riding or  carrying different  people under different  conditions.  Any  points of  view on  this  subject  would be  welcome and  appreciated.

Re: Eroticism or not?

I was having a similar conversation with my significant other recently. She knew that I get sexual gratification from shoulder-riding, and so she would attempt to add to my enjoyment in that fashion. Her main attempts were by making soft, sexual moans while riding each other in a swimming pool, and by making piggyback-related dirty talk during sexual intercourse. I found that neither of these tactics enhanced my pleasure at all, because for me, as it turns out, sex is sex and riding is riding. They achieve the same results for me, but neither one is dependent upon the other.

When I discussed this with her, she asked me where my passion for shoulder-riding came from if it wasn't purely erotic. I told her that, as best as I could tell, shoulder-riding was just an extension of my fondness for women's legs. When I'm being ridden, her legs brush my face and wrap around my body, and in this position I can feel every subtle movement in her thighs as she maintains her balance. When I'm riding, on the other hand, I take pleasure in feeling/seeing the slight wobble of her legs as she exerts the strength she needs to remain standing. Those two acts, while they give me a sexual rush, are not wrapped up in sex itself. I don't finish a shoulder ride and feel the need to immediately climax, just as the shoulder ride is not a prerequisite to climax.

Supporting this is my friendship with Blanc, my male friend of whom I've *previously written accounts. I don't personally identify as homosexual, and so I neither had nor desired sex with Blanc. However, in high school, he frequently agreed to give me shoulder rides, often for no other reason than that we both enjoyed it. There is no doubt we both got sexual pleasure from this, but our pleasure was independent of each other. Shoulder-riding was the extent of our sexual relationship; it never needed to go any further.

phantom:

I  found  your  remarks and  views  quite  interesting  and oddly  similar  to my  feelings.
I  am  exclusively a  rider  of course and I doubt I  could carry  anyone even if I  was inclined to  attempt it.
My  friend,  the one who brought about  my interest  in  this activity also  expressed feelings  rather more similar to yours (and mine)  in a  separate aspect of  eroticism that  is  not a  precursor to  sexual  contact or as and  form of  foreplay. His  view  is  that the person  he  chooses to  carry  him  should not  expect to  become  a  sexual partner or  to ever be considered for that  role.  He is  exclusively  gay  as I  said,  but  it was very  much  like  your expressed  feelings in riding on  your friend  Blanc.
Likewise, I  may  find it  somewhat  erotically  exciting  to  sit on  a man's shoulders or  I may not. It may  depend on  who  he is  or  my  general  mood but in  any case, what I'm  feeling and  why  I'm  enjoying  the  position is completely  personal  and whatever  my  carrier is feeling is equally  personal.
I enjoy  the stress  of the  man  beneath  me as well  and in  searching  my feelings this enjoyment  is derived partially  from the feeling of  being  served by  someone  stressed  and humbling himself  to serve  me.  I  might have considered this a  part of my  feminine  nature but  for  my  gay  friend  and now  you  seemingly having similar  feelings.
The line  between sensuality  and sexuality  is  obviously both  vague  and  varied for men  and women  as well  as  heterosexuals  and  homosexuals.  I  find this  quite  intriguing .

Re: Eroticism or not?

This one is easy to answer, at least for me. I also think some favor shoulder-riding for practical reasons such as having a good view in a open-air festival/concert&similar or lifting each others when there is for example no stepladder around to help you get to higher places and alike. Some would do all of that without even having the slightest erotic thought and think of it as something useful or beneficial in a specific situation.

And then there are other riders I have met who wouldn't tell you straight away that they are enjoying it but they use the momentum to stay on top and act like it, for example sit longer where others would have dismounted, ask you to walk here and there while they stay seated and so on.

For me shoulder-riding has always been very erotic. It is the meaning of using your strength, your endurance and your will to exhaust yourself to let her have a comfortable ride on top. And even that has to be put slightly different: you are not using your strength (so you can decide what to do) but rather she is using your strength to decide what she wants to do with it. Up to here this is all about erotic thoughts&minds but then there is also the sensory satisfaction of having your head in between your riders legs, feeling the soft skin on your neck and cheeks, simply enjoying the feeling of someone sitting on you. These feelings really lasts for quite some time of the ride and then after a long while the muscles getting sore, you feel exhausted, you do not want to go on and yet you don't stop. You don't have those previous feelings anymore, you just feel exhausted, you feel pain, you realize you are being used and this is the sensation I get from being dominated. And yes, in my book all of that is very erotic.

Alex:

I  wonder if a  poll  was  conducted  and honest  answers could be  obtained, how  many  riders and  carriers  would admit  to an  erotic  desire   and  of those,  how many  would  put  an  emphasis  on sensations  over the domination/submission  aspect.

Ruling out sexual  positions  for the sake of  this discussion,  the acts  of  sitting  on and being  sat upon  by another  person seems to be  a rather  common  fetish  type activity  and implies  a dominant/submissive  relationship in  general.
Obviously there are instances  where  this  does  not  apply,   and equally  obviously, situations  where one individual  in  either  position may find  it personally erotic and the other may  not see it that way at all.
I might also  suggest  that the person sitting  on the other would  find it desirable  for  a longer period than the person  who is being sat  upon. I would  imagine  this is  generally  true  whether the  sitter is  sat  upon  the  carrier/seat's shoulders or his cheat,  back or anywhere he  might be supporting the other person's weight.

I would say after all my experiences there has been mostly a quite strict aspect by the girls and much more by the adult ladies.
I could feel that on my neck how much they rubbed their pussies on my neck.
But there never has been more. (quite apart from quite different erotic practices)
Most enjoyed deeply their power and being free to rule over me.
Even the girls were using this position and there has always been quite a
good part of real female sadism.
I was nothing but a beast of burden for them and this way they were treating me.

If I did refuse or not obey to them as they expected me to do, they could get extremely rude and absolutely furious.
As long as they stood in front of me they were treating me almost in a quite reasonable way like a human being, although they wanted to be. in command and never were accepting contradictions of mine or hear a refusal of me.
They gave the orders and I had to obey.
But as soon as they sat on my neck, their attitude changed completely and they became in general harsh and ruthless.
Even the very young girls were reacting this way.
Sitting on me they were the mistress and I was their slave and sitting on a slave gave them the right using me also for their erotic pleasure.
They did not hide much their erotic feelings.
