Internet's #1 shoulder riding community
You are not logged in.
If you are actually interested in meeting people to ride or be ridden by, I have two points to make.
1) People can't contact you unless you give them an email address or other contact method. I travel fairly often, for example, and I don't really want to post my itinerary for every trip. I do search posts for the locations I'm traveling to, however, and note where people say they live, and I might contact you if it sounds like our interests would match. I can't do that, though, if you don't have any contact info. I'm sure others travel also, and likely do the same.
2) Pick a post at random, and click on their email address. At least for me, the result about 99% of the time is an error message. I don't know why, but I wouldn't assume that your email address is visible to other users even if you say it isn't private. I highly recommend putting contact info in a visible way in the "profile" that is displayed when you click on a user's name. (You can look at mine for an example which I know has worked for others to contact me.)
I've posted on this before, but it still confounds me when people post again and again about how much they want to ride, and then they leave no way to be contacted. Just how do you think that's going to work? I love the posts about actual experiences, but you can't get those without meeting riders and "ponies", and that doesn't happen by magic.
Sorry for the rant, and happy riding!

I totally agree with you,a lot of people on this site provide no information at all, even the basic info, sometimes like dealing with children,we should really toughen up our basic info that is provided, sex,age etc.
Offline
It should be mandatory to supply the following information: Age,Sex,Location,Email address,if you do not what is the point of you joining. If you do not then you should be removed and deleted.
Offline
yes I totally agree with that

No reason to ask them mastadon, they have written it many times in this forum.

They might have written about it many times, but they have done nothing about, let's have some action . If you have not provided the required information within a month, then you are deleated.

We have written many times about this before, so I´ll keep it short.
- a basic member can just register without giving any info about himself. This is not going to change. We are very few already and we don´t want to scare any possible member of by asking them to many questions.
- a bonus member must complete his profile with gender, age and country before getting the bonus membership. Of course, we have no way of telling, if someone is telling the truth or not. We currently have dozens of members that haven´t aged in years.
It is completely up to you dear members, how much you want to tell us about yourself. We already have several members that meet up for rides, but the number could of course be higher. One thing you should remember, is that the vaste majority of out members are only interested in wom. Those rides are hard to arrange through this site.

Typical whitewash.just let it bumble alone. What is better 500 unattached names or 50 who really care?

I'm actually in agreement with gunde on this. I in no way meant to say that the site should require a public email address from everyone. Annoniminity has its place. But I do think people need to realize that, um, duh, if you don't provide contact info then you won't get contacted. And I am concerned about the error messages that display when I try to view some people's email address, which make me wonder if the email address thing works reliably even if you provide it and say it should be public. I can't test this since I can only log on as myself.
It would be nice to have a more free-form area to say something about yourself, though. I repurposed a couple fields intended for instant messenger ID's, as I remember, to try to say a little more about my location, interests, and email. But that does seem to work, and I really appreciate this site and all the work gunde and others do to keep it running!

Sorry,I still think that members should be prepared to put more information on their profile, age, location(country)'sex,if nothing else it is common decency when you join an organisation.Dont just be a name, try to take part, give a little of yourself.

We appear to have approx 800 members, please tell us how many have a complete profile on record and how many blank.

A quick glance at the user statistics shows that a majority of all members have a complete profile. The reason is probably that they either are or were bonus members.

OK Nick,Next question How many bonus members do we have?

There are 84 bonus members

84 bonus members, that's interesting so that leaves 716 who in theory have not bothered to complete their profile,a very sad state of affairs. No wonder it is very difficult to contact the majority of members, something should be done about it.Clear out the non compliers and just have bonus members or bumble along with with a lot of hangers on.your choice ADMIN. It would appear that we are carrying a lot of dead wood.
Offline
We can't draw that conclusion necessarily. Since bonus membership can lapse due to inactivity, theoretically everyone could at some point have had bonus membership (and so have a complete profile). The 84 number is definitely a floor for how many complete profiles there are.

Interestingly in the last nine years over 70% of members have posted less than 10 times,Dead Wood?.
Offline
I don't see the problem with "dead wood". Disk space is incredibly cheap these days. Presumably everyone with an account on here has some interest in shoulder riding. There are many reasons why someone might not be a particularly active participant, or maybe just can't actively participate right now. I'm not all that active, although I visit this site pretty much daily. In my case, my fantasies are mom and tend toward the Dom/sub side and I'm not sure how well they would be received, and I don't want to scare off more vanilla rides or rider prospects (which I like also.)
One thing I like about this site is the possibility of finding rides and riders. And it does work for that, with some restrictions. I think the search function mainly works on the posts. So if you happen to want people visiting your area to be able to find you, it seems like a good idea to make at least one post saying where you live. And it might be good to state that a few ways (ex: Looking for mom rides or riders in Florida ( FL, Fort Lauderdale, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Gold Coast ). (I'm not actually sure if you can search for a 2 word phrase. And though I don't actually live in Miami, it does seem like people will search for the largest town in your area). The way things work now, this is probably the best way to get found. The "profile" seems more like a place where people who find one of your posts can then find a few more details about you and how to contact you.
This all should work fine, as things are now, so I personally don't think we need to impose on the admins to do more work. But if you want to connect with riders or rides, you have to do some of this stuff. That is what I wanted to stress in my original post: it doesn't happen automatically, and you should try finding others so you'll learn the site limitations. If finding rides/riders isn't your goal, I'm not here to judge.

Hello to All.
I Agree to all the points above.
But More Important than this is the Desire For Rides.
I can take my own example, I have met one guy from this forum 2 years back.
I don't like that much of MOM Rides, but yes still we did it, as I wanted to experience as a horse / carrier irrespective of Gender of My Rider.
We both wanted rides , so it happen.
So, if probably 2 persons from same cities are looking to exchange rides, it can happen.
Rest I have mssg so many people in my city too, hardly anyone replies or get in touch .
Probably they have other important interests in their areas which is not bad at all.
Everyone is Different, and we have to accept that.
I only think that Promotion of This Forum is Quite Less(As per my view) , but to increase that a lot of Money is needed.
But here only Genuine people come who love Rides.
If we go to other sites, Females are just asking money for anything you want, So we have this forum Free from all This.
Thats the beauty of this.
I can also say there are many Silent Members here may be Females too, who see and visit Forums, but remain silent as their wish is so.
Lets see what future lies ahead for All of Us. Hope it becomes Good For Good Rides .
Thanks.

Its been an interesting dialogue,I totally agree the object of this site is always to discuss shoulder riding and if possible obtain rides, but with over 700 nearly defunct members, the chances of any .of them being willing must be very limited, perhaps me being a keen gardener, always a lot of weeding out of (what ever you like to call them) is required.
I really don't know what the answer is,have a stronger base membership, where people can contact everyone else or a larger
group with only a few able to contact the rest. You have a choice.

How about establish OUR OWN facebook group, called Ultimate Shoulder Rides?!? I'd do it myself but I don't like to cause any petty jaleousiy to spoil the good thing, let the admins do it, it will be easier than reform this forum which is censervative by design. The old style dating websites with 98% of profiles being inactive don't really work. facebook and other dynamic communication platforms are the new trend. And our goal is to get to know each other and to meet each other.
P.S. I mean NOT a replacement but an addition to this forum. There are always people who are on fb but not here and vice versa. If you want to meet most of the hot people on the net, who share your interests you've gotta go cross-platform.

Mastadon, m'dear, you don't appear to be a bonus member at the moment. But you are suggesting a prune of the 716 non bonus members...!
Also, Nick said that the majority of* all* profiles are complete. Not just current bonus members.
Debate is fine. But, it might be good if we get our facts straight before calling other members dead wood or saying they should leave. yes?
I do agree that we can't have our SR dreams come true unless we provide proper contact info. But I don't agree with pruning those who aren't quite as active. We all have our reasons for being quiet sometimes - some more so than others.

I do not see the relevance to Bonus Membership in this instance, however for admin to say that most peoples profiles are up to date to say the least an overstatement.Every member should not be afraid to put their name, age, sex and if possible location on his/her profile.
If you have a tree that is not bearing fruit, what do you do,you prune it,remove some of the dead wood and try to instill some life into it. That's what I am trying to do,is that wrong?.

Depends on what the end goal is. I think you and MBR make a good point, if you want to shoulder ride and you are serious about it, take it easy on yourself and make yourself public. But if you are interested in just the content, and aren't looking to meet people, then it doesn't make sense to force these people to disclose their info if they don't want to. One reason may be not to be swept up by a spambot. Also, we all now how we react when the rarest of all members, the *real* female rider/pony makes an appearance - the person immediately gets bombarded by questions and requests. Maybe women would prefer not to identify and remain anonymous to avoid too much attention.
In general though, I worry about the extra work we are asking of the admins. I'd rather work with what we have instead of making them do more work.
Re: meeting up for rides, some thoughts:
It's helpful to know if people are going to be travelling. I know it's not always possible but all my rides have come from meeting people when they were nearby, so please let the forum know if you are going to be travelling somewhere
Agreed, if you are serious about riding/carrying, then make it easy to be contacted (thanks to this chain, i realized my email was private, so i remedied that)
there may actually be something wrong with this forum's email retrieval system. Randomly clicking on the 'get email' button always resulted in an error. I'm happy to serve as a test case by making my email private to see if people can retrieve it correctly

regarding fb, i'm not sure how many people willing to disclose their real names on a fetish group. safe to assume majority wouldn't.

Some people don't mind joining groups under their real names. While others can start a profile designed especially for the particular interest calling themselves for example "Mistress French Rider" Paris Or "Sir Izaak Damenpferd" Stuttgart. It's quite common. It's not as important what your real name is as being able to talk to you and getting a response. The way I see it, it is only whan people get to know each other eye to eye they may decide whether or not to disclose their personal info. The key word is contact.
Offline
I would agree,CONTACT, it is important, but to make it you need several things.Name(could be anything),location, age and sex, without these there is not much point,it is common sense.Let us try to be a bit more forth coming with our information.
Offline
True. But what this community lacks aso is some critical mass to grow. There is only a tiny base of participants. One girl form Mexico, one guy from Japan... . Those few luckier or more determined among us who managed to establish contacts, continue their own adventure outside this forum on communicators and other social platforms.
