Hi everyone!
I have a question:
Which is, in your opinion, the easier way to lift someone heavy from the floor to start a shoulder ride?
Is it better to squat them or to lift them from behind, with your neck between their legs?
Should I use my hands to grab their legs or to push on my own knees, and help myself stand up?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Alberto.

As nearly all my riders are heavier than myself,I would not pick them up from behind, personally. If you sit on a chair, for instance, then get them to climb on to your shoulders from behind, this works well for me at least.
If they can mount you from an even higher position, such as a table or park bench, this is even better,as you dont have to strain yourself at all,and you are already in the walking position!
Hope this helps!

Also if there is a bar or a rope or something to hang from available, it's easy to have them lower themselves onto your shoulders.

Yes,thats a good idea.Anything to take the weight off to start with.

Those are great ideas, but what would you advise if I had to start from the floor (in a music festival).
Thanks!

what I can suggest is, you can bend on your one knee...The girl can stand on your other thigh and mount your shoulder, and then you can stand up.
I think it will be the easiest way..Hope you got the picture i am suggesting.

If the girl you want to lift has a couple of friends, get her to stand BETWEEN her friends, then get her to put her arms on her friends' shoulders and lift herself off the ground. You can then go behind her,and pick her up.
