To Gunde Re: swimmers pic in pool fun

Hi Gunde

What a fantastic picture of the female swimmers in pool fun.  I'd really like to know where you found it and whether there was any information on who they were. Athletic female swimmers shoulder carrying one another has long been a fantasy of mine - along with beach volleyball players! (no luck finding pics on that front).  Female swimmers are very strong girls and the riders in this pic both look bigger than their carriers.

Many years ago I attended a swimming event and witnessed a statuesque 17 year old champion with powerful arms and legs receiving her trophy from a retired olympic swimmer whose name I can no longer remember (she was about mid-30s at the time and I think was in the 1980 or 84 olympics).  Later, they posed with the girl's family for pics and the ex-olympian picked her up on her shoulders.  She was wearing a two-piece trouser suit and the girl was still a little wet.  Both the swimmer and the ex-olympian were getting on for 6 feet tall so it was quite a structure.  When she put her dwon she had a damp patch across her shoulders!  The pic was in the local paper but was cropped so that you only just about saw the lifter's chin.  There must be a decent pic knocking about somewhere because several family members and friends were snapping away as well as the press.  Maybe it will turn up here one day.

Anyway, Gunde, can you remeber where you found it?

Re: To Gunde Re: swimmers pic in pool fun

Hi Ben,
I was away for a few days, so I didn´t notice your question until now.

I have been collecting lift & carry material for a long time. I have lately been uploading pics from that collection. I know, that some repeated pictures are among them and I appologize for that, but I´m still sure that I´m also posting several new ones.

The pictures you are talking about, are from a picture folder that I have had for some time on my pc. I know, that I found them on a picture hosting site. Which, that I can´t remember. I do remember, that the girls pictured played some kind of water sport, maybe water polo. You are right about the riders being bigger than their horses. You could see it clearly in those pics, were the girls stand side by side. The album with the shoulder rides also featured cradle carries.
