We used to have outdoor festivals with the countdown in Vancouver but they stopped them for some reason. Now I have a little party in my home with various friends and during the evening, because of my amazing stereo, I play some excellent rock concerts on the TV where there is shoulder riding on the concert. After a few drinks, I have no problem asking one of the female guests to get on my shoulders and we pretend we're partying at the rock concert and we dance around the living room as the other guests cheer us. Sometimes my other friends join in too and we have a competition to see who can last the longest. Then when it is approaching midnight, we change the TV to the broadcast of the countdown from Times Square and at this point, I usually still have one of the ladies on my shoulders. We grab drinks and ring in the new year with her on my shoulders. I hope it can all happen again this year. I find that parties can be so much more fun if you can get people doing some shoulder riding. It changes the whole atmosphere and everyone thinks the party is really great because of the feeling of total freedom.
