Ultimate shoulder rides

There is a Canadian shoulder riding group somewhere in Canada - but I cannot remember what city it is in. Maybe the couples who mountmeforever saw are members of that group and they were doing some public shoulder riding?

This was in Vancouver. It certainly was wonderful to see it although I haven't seen anymore since.

That might be alright if you were surefooted like a moose or an elk,but skating around snow and ice with someone on your shoulders  looks like a recipe for disaster

Giving a female a ride because there is snow on the ground seems like the perfect reason for doing so - and too much of an opportunity to miss. The pony - who is likely to be male - would appear to be very chivalrous. But he would, of course, be giving the female a ride on his shoulders to gratify himself. (That is the reason most, perhaps, all people do 'good turns.' They do 'good turns' because there is something in it for them, e.g. prestige, recognition, public acclaim, out of loneliness, to get close to someone or people who they have an interest in and, if it's charity work, to get some indirect financial advantage from the funds raised.) If you live in a country like Canada that get long snowy winters, you could if you had the time, spend virtually all day offering to give young ladies (and not so young ladies too) shoulder rides to 'help' them get along the snowy streets. The obvious problem is that some (maybe many) females would decline your offer out of suspicion or shyness - some females would probably be hesitant about clambering astride a stranger's shoulders in the belief that they might fall off or that riding along, sat astride a man's shoulders, would look somewhat immodest. The girls who are likely to respond to an offer to carry them on your shoulders are the college-age girls or girls in groups of twos and threes. They would probably regard the offer as a lark or joke and accept it out of bravo. Probably these kind of girls are likely to be the most enjoyable to carry - and you would be making the offer to get that very thing: enjoyment.
