4 high shoulder ride

hi there
I've always liked the rides and got shoulder carry many people. but what I've always wanted is to make a human tower of four, but I've never managed to do it. Could you tell me your experience in this type of shoulder ride or some trick to getting make?

Re: 4 high shoulder ride

It can be done. The easiest way is to get a pole (like a firehouse pole), let the pole do the balancing and weight support at first. Then practice releasing the pole as a group.  The hardest part of a 4 high isn't the bottom person, but the person right above them.

Easier to do in the water, but the water also lets you cheat with the weight part.

Could the admin move the topic to stories and experiences? thanks
Shawnpatrick, I don't understand what you mean with the person right above them. Why the hardest part of a 4 high isn't the bottom person?
Did you make a pole before?

Yea, we used to fool around with them in high school. The bottom person really only needs to worry about the weight. It's the person above them who not only has to support two people (although if it's two skinny girls, it's not a problem), but balance the two on top of the base and the base is usually shaking. Thus why I say that's the hardest part and if your two bottom people are close to the same weight, put the stronger one as the person supporting the other two instead of the base.

What the pole helps you do at first is to balance for one and two support some of the weight. Let me explain. Say you have 120, 120, 150, 200 pounds for the quartet. The first 120 can probably just squat up the other 120. However, the 150 will struggle to lift two people from a squat or bent back, thus the top two people pull up on the pole while being lifted, making it much easier. Then the same with the 4th person. With practice and trust (and padding or spotters for falling), eventually you can work on getting away from the pole for balance.

A swimming pool like I said makes things much easier and much much safer.

How true this may be, it's got nothing to do with shoulder riding, unless you let your pet ride yours. I'm sure there's a lot of websites to accomodate cat and dog owners, but this isn't one of them. Good day to you!
