MOM soulder rides in arab revolutions

We see lot of MOM shoulder rides during protests in arab révolutions, in some cases a man (80 kg) can ride another man all the protest long, during 2 hours, I guess the carrier will be exhausted after such ride, after carrying a 80 kg man on his shoulders during hours.

Re: MOM soulder rides in arab revolutions

Hi yukimura sanada,

Indeed one often can see males riding each other on shoulders in protest demonstrations in Arab countries. Speaking from my own experience, I doubt that it's possible for a man to carry a similar sized man for 2 hours without having to rest. I think it's more likely that we see the same rider riding different guys. In fact I've seen an interesting technique on television in which the rider changes carriers without having to dismount at all. The switch only takes a few moments and is often done while walking along.

Twice a year I have the pleasure of riding Shouldertaxi, another member on this forum. He's very strong and capable of carrying more than his own weight on his shoulders for quite some time. According to his experience, if a ride will be short or long not only depends on the weight, but also on the match between the riders fysique and his own, as well as on on the proper position of the rider on the neck and shoulders.

We've met somewhere like 9 or 10 times over the past few years, and one can say that we are both very experienced in shoulder riding/carrying, also with other people. It's possible for him (75 kg) to carry me (80 kg) for 10 minutes if all goes well, but after that his body needs to recuperate for the next ride. He told me he carried an even heavier guy for 20 minutes straight, but that's exeptional.

Further, as a rider I find it hard to ride longer than 10 minutes without resting. My legs simply start to protest because a part of the bloodflow gets reduced in the muscles which are in contact with the shoulder bones of my mount. But maybe that's just me. Perhaps there are riders who don't need to get down after 10 minutes at all.

In a little over 3 weeks Shouldertaxi will visit me again for a few days. If all goes well, we will have lots of shoulder rides and lots of fun. If we can find another carrier in the mean time, I would most certainly want to try this switching carrier technique myself!

All the best to you,

Frenk5080

Re: MOM soulder rides in arab revolutions

Hi
Have to complete the text Frenk alittle. Yes after 10 minutes (normaly only one ride!) I have to rest ~5minutes or so, and then up again. The rides are normaly, betwin 3 and 5 minutes with Frenk. During a day there be more then one houre of riding.
About long rides! Two times I had riders for 1/2 hour. They where 62 and 70 kg. Both of them wanted to get down because there legs hurting! I wanted to have them a little longer. Maybe I could manage to give 45 minutes before "colapse". 2 hours...? maybe as Frenk tell, shift lifters without getting down.
Normaly during a meet with Frenk I carry him more then 3 hours! And then schoolboypin, chest and stomach sitting... See forward to this smile

Re: MOM soulder rides in arab revolutions

shouldertaxi and frenk5080 have a lot of fun together and manage to meet up on a regular basis despite living in two different counties. So well done! An alternative to shoulder-riding per se is for the rider to just sit astride the carrier's shoulders and enjoy the sensation of doing just that. I enjoy doing that because I can, as I said, enjoy the sensation of sitting astride the carrier's shoulders without having to concentrate on keeping my balance as the carrier walks along. Personally, I like to sit there astride the carrier's shoulders with my legs dangling (instead of tucked in close to the carrier's body) so that I can enjoy the maximum sensation. The only disadvantage is that the carrier can get tired nonetheless after standing there with the weight of a guy on his shoulders for 10 minutes or so, more so if the crotch of the guy's jeans are chaffing up against the back of his neck. Saying that, a pony-guy is there to be rode (or ridden) and to give the jockey the kind of ride he (or she) wants.

I think this guys use this technique because the are the leaders of the protest demonstration, the poeple follw them, so they don't want to dismount at all

Re: MOM soulder rides in arab revolutions

I'm waiting to see a few female shoulder riders urging on the mobs. That would be something worth watching on the news channels...!
