Are we different or even abnormal?

I have tried to find material about shoulder riding on the net such as stories or just opinions about it and came across forum entries about concert shoulder rides. There are plenty of guys (even sometimes girls) who are complaing (partly also in a very rude way) about those "girls sitting on their boyfriend's shoulders during a concert.
I have been thinking about it. And as for me I am a rather easy going person and I do try to see different point of views to understand why people are thinking the way they are.

I would like to know your thoughts about this.

I guess we sr-lovers could probably be called kinky, more or less. Our love for sr is above the norm. Some would do e.g. sr at concerts or do chicken fights but their mind wouldn't be wrapped with sr all the year like it is for most of us here. As for me I am fine with that, since I found this community I know there are quite a lot who actually like or even love sr. And I don't think there is anything wrong about it as we do not hurt anyone with our liking (unless we would be careless). It is actually just simple fun for the one lifted and the one who likes to lift.
Some people though think that it is very annoying to see a back of a girl sitting on shoulders right in front of them and therefor not being able to see the stage. I don't mind to see that as I like sr. But if you don't I understand you want to see the band you paid for. Especially if you have a shoulder rider ahead you who is on top most of the time during the concert. However unless you don't stand quite in the first rows or the people around you are very crowded you should be able to do a step to the right or left or even get ahead of the sr couple and you would be able to see again. I really don't get that people start to write general messages to those "dumb" sr girls full of hate. I don't like haters btw. And lot's of them like to throw bottles or other stuff on those girls sitting on shoulders and think that would be fun. Although that would not only possibly hurt the girl but could also strike somebody else and would maybe pour beer over lot's of people that way. Some haters even wrote they would tear those people on shoulders down. I don't get why you can't find another way to get what you want. Like waiting a few minutes till the sr is ended anyway and just enjoy the music meanwhile (since that's the main reason you came there) or step aside to see again or even ask kindly if the couple ahead you could end the sr or you could get ahead of them. But some seem to prefer risking to injure others obviously because they think those others are egoists but then they proof to be just that but in a much ruder way themselves. At least that's how I feel about it. Another example was an 18 year old girl who asked on a blog what people would think about that she liked to be carried on shoulders by her boyfriend when she was getting tired (and sometimes guide him around in a playfully bossy way saying e.g. "go there"). The reactions were quite different. Some were saying (esp. girls) they would think she and her boyfriend are a cute couple and smile at them. The girl also asked btw if her boyfriend maybe had some kind of stronger interest or so in carrying her and if that was healthy to have such an interest. Those who were reacting positively said "Simply ask him what he thinks about it and if he likes it to carry you, too or does it only because he likes to give you a good feeling as he loves you". Some were saying it would be great that there are still such old-style gentlemen who would hold up a door to a woman or carry their wife in arms etc., she should be happy about that and just enjoy it as it is no harm to anyone. But there was e.g. also a girl who were like "you act like a little immature kid and you got two legs to walk yourself, use them god damned!"
So what could someone like us do to make sr more acceptable in public or should we just not care about other people's sometimes ignorant and selfish opinions? Would we be selfish then, too if we don't care about them?

I hope this will start a vivid discussion. Share your ideas.

Louie
P.S.: Shoulder riding is an activity (with women on top) I will always find appeling and I would not give it up no matter what others think about it.

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

When attending a parade or a concert, the best place to be is, obviously, under the butt of a shoulder-riding girl, but next to that, and very close, the second best place is to be just BEHIND a shoulder-riding girl, being thus granted the privilege to enjoy the sight of Her butt on Her BF's shoulders !!! OMG! I would never complain to be deprived of the show, if only because no show can ever compete with the gracious curves of a feminine derriere, just a few inches away from my marvelling eyes !!!! smile

That being said, it takes two to tango, and the same goes for SR ...

I don't know how many guys enjoy to give rides to girls, but I'm sure it's a ten to one ratio or even worse, when related to the number of girls who like to ride on guys' shoulders ! So, if we wanted to make our "coming out", and, for example, decided to carry our favourite GF on a daily basis, in all circumstances, THAT would certainly be a good way to promote SR and make it, in the long run, a normal mainstream behaviour, despite its clearly kinky content ....... But, in theory, only one tenth of us SR addicts might be in such a capacity. And only those who would,  miraculously, find the right match, i.e THE girl who would also love to ride, AND would also be ready to make Her coming out too ....

It's easy to be two to tango, it's a lot tougher to be two to ride, except in very special circumstances, like parades and concerts ... And so we're back to square one, where SR remains, and will remain a somewhat weird activity, and as such, exposed to criticism of grumbling backwatchers ..... sad

Maybe I am too pessimistic, but I believe that coming out is easier for homosexual than for SR addicts ... It is certainly more difficult for a gay to decide that he will come out, but once his decision is made, he will easily find partners with the same view. The SR addict won't find so easily the partners to team up with in that "coming out" struggle.

Just my two cents of a Euro ! ( Please, Mastadon, spare me your usual jokes on the euro ... smile

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

Yes, we are different. We want to watch,  participate in, or think shoulder riding most days.  Most other people may enjoy it but may not think about it so much. We do not know for sure because we can not read minds.

I agree that this is alright for those who enjoy it but hurt nobody and nothing when doing it.

Can not blame those who object to having their view at a concert blocked by shoulder rides because they came to watch a concert, not a shoulder ride. It would be preferable to be out of the way of those people who object to having their views blocked.

Some like to play loud music but such people have no right to impose it on those wanting peace and quiet.

I would shoulder carry a gal from behind other spectators.

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

Shoulder-riding (and carrying) is basically horseplay that's indulged in by children. The same goes for wresting, particularly the 'schoolboy-pin' and schoolgirl-pin' stuff. Both of these activities appeal to older children, teenagers and those in their late teen/early 20s (of both genders). Proof of this can be seen in the many YouTube videos posted by those in these age groups.

The same can be said of many other physical activities such as running and jumping, even football - all of which are essentially childrens' games but still indulge in by adults. So are adults who like to play what are essentially childrens' game kinky or perverted? I would suggest that they are not. They - like those who enjoy shoulder riding and carrying - are doing what they do for fun (i.e. enjoyment). Is that a crime? I think not.

Girls who sit on guys' shoulders at events like pop shows do so for practical reasons, i.e. to get a better view of the musicians on the stage. Saying that, if you chat casually with straight guys and mention the subject of girls being given a ride on a guy's shoulders, most will readily say that they regard that as a s*e*x thing. Most straight guys are quite au fait and relaxed about the subject of girls sitting astride guys' shoulders. On the other hand, most girls might not realise that when they sit astride a guy's shoulders, the average straight guy can get s*e*x*a*l*l*y aroused by having a girl (who's usually dressed in tight blue jeans) sat there on his shoulders with her thighs either side of his face. And girls who are nimble enough to mount a guy's shoulders are usually not only young but attractive too. It's no wonder that they (i.e. guys) find the experience arousing. Of course, saying that it's impossible to say what these shoulder-riding girls feel about the experience. Most are too coy to say and, if asked directly, they'd deny totally that the experience was arousing for them.

In actual fact, what some girls feel about shoulder riding and carrying can be gleaned from YouTube again, in that some lesbian girls take the opportunity (or use it as a pretext) to give shoulder-rides to girls they either like or want to get to know better. What starts off as a bit of innocent horseplay can lead on to a full-blown lesbian affair IF the lesbian girl can provoke the right kind of desired response from the girl she's giving a shoulder-ride to. I guess that a lesbian girl knows how to stimulate another girl (even if the girl she's carrying on her shoulders is straight) by giving the girl a shoulder-ride in just the right way. Again, there's no crime being committed by a girl doing that. It's just fun, albeit risque fun. As for being obsessed by shoulder-riding - what's the harm? There is an old saying in the north of England which is: 'There's nout (nothing) so odd as folk.' This saying sums it all up, I think.

... I would add that horseplay such as offering to give someone a shoulder-ride or agreeing to be given a shoulder-ride is a great 'ice-breaker' that can enable people to get to know each other and become friendly - and that, in turn, can lead on to other things (about which my natural modesty and diffidence prevents from commenting about.)

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

In the SR area, as in most other kinky domains, I must admit, although I truely adore them, that Females are rather disappointing partners .... You're right, Checkmateguy, most girls need to have an excuse to ride a guy, such as watching the show at a concert ... Likewise, they often need to have an excuse to make love, and that excuse is that there is no other way < So far >, to get children ... In return they say, and they're probably right, that if it was possible to open male brains, the only thing to be found inside would be, metaphorically, a huge male organ, which is the reason why they can so easily handle us, or, as Sam would say, "wrap us around their little finger" ...

At the end of the day, in the kink area, what makes us "abnormal" is everything that is not on the Female agenda ... Our agendas are overloaded, theirs are wisely kept. We, the SR addicts, we want them to wrap, for real, our strong necks and imploring faces with their lovely thighs, but they stick to their genetic programmes, and keep wrapping us around their little fingers ...

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

Very nice topic raised, Mr. Louie.

You are right; the difference between people who just do SR and SR fan is that the later always thinks about it.
And our slightly different thinking process makes us love the act.

In spite of being SR fan, even I will get annoyed if somebody is sitting on the shoulder right in front of me during a concert and will not hesitate to speak to them about it.
I suggest that the shoulder sitting ones should ensure that they are not obstructing anybody’s view either by being behind or by taking such appropriate position.

Regarding your ‘Another example’, I think people are divided into following category.
1-    Love SR
2-    Don’t love it but don’t mind others loving it and thinks it as an acceptable thing.
3-    Can see world only by their view. If they don’t understand it, then it is an unacceptable act.
4-    They secretly adore it but don’t have the guts to accept and express it. So they hate it out of jealousy.

Eg: About the girl who said, “"you act like a little immature kid and you got two legs to walk yourself, use them god damned!"
Either she is from category 3 or she is jealous of the asker whose boyfriend willingly carries the asker while her boyfriend has never given her that fun nor she has the guts to ask him.
My personal opinion is that the hard haters belong to category 4.

Yes, SR fans should not care about other’s selfish opinions.
\No, that does not make the SR fans selfish too, because we are doing what we like and not hurting others by harsh comments (like them).
This is the only way to make it more acceptable in public, I think.

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

Checkmateguy, It’s not that 'schoolboy-pin' and schoolgirl-pin' stuff appeal more to older children.
It’s equally prominent in younger children too.
You cannot make youtube the proof about it because younger children are lesser in a position to videotape and post their activities on youtube.

I am sure that the girl sitting on the shoulder is in much more arousal causing position physically, than the man carrying her.
But it’s the thinking process that makes all the difference.
Still I think, girls enjoy equally or more but it’s just that most don’t express or agree.

Jean Marie,

I agree that female sexuality helps to turns us guys into gals willing, adoring, and loving human horses of gals. But, I doubt s*e*x*u*a*l desire alone motivates us guys to be such shoulder ridden human horses.

Gals that we would never have sex with such many of our female relatives, such as your daughters when they were young, can easily charm us into being shoulder ridden by them.

They charm us into doing many other things for them too besides carrying them on our shoulders of course. I have had tried to have sex with only one gal that I shoulder carried, my wife, and I can remember shoulder carrying six gals total in my life.

I just do not have it like some of you others.

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

On the subject of Italy and the Italians, a few years ago an Italian guy (via YouTube) donated himself to me as a slave - a slave for me to shoulder-ride, that is. He even sent me a certificate that says I now own him. So if I ever go over to Rome, for example, I needn't bother hiring a taxi - I've got my own human one. Very green transport, eh?

Re: Are we different or even abnormal?

I have thought alot about this topic for a long period of time, ever since I first experienced pleasure in carrying someone.  I personally don't think we are either. First of all, sure I would maybe go as far as to call this a fetish.  It could be argued everyone has a fetish.  For example foot fetishes ie kissing touching another persons feet- this doesn't harm anyone in fact usually gives someone pleasure "especially women" to have their feet rubbed.  I am going out on a limb, foot fetishes- while i respect everyones right to their own fetish, is way more abnormal than SR.

Now there are other abnormal harmful fetishes out there, such as child porn"extreme but much more prevalent and talked about than SR".

I dont see us as abnormal in any way, we like carrying and in some cases riding other people.  Its something we enjoy, its hurting no one, and why should we be ashamed at all?  I actually think its healthy.
