Some time ago I posted a message about some spectacular shoulder riding by two topless thong-clad women in "Day Two" by the Pilobolus Dance Theater, and asked whether anyone knew how to obtain a DVD or tape of that performance. No response so far.
Meanwhile, however, it turns out that there is some shoulder riding (both forward and reverse) in "Opus Cactus" by Momix. I believe the choreographer was one of the original members of Pilobolus, so it seems that he appreciates shoulder rides as an element in modern dance. I found the following clip showing a pertinent excerpt from "Opus Cactus." It looks like fun! ![]()

Yes, David, Moses Pendleton very often included sr in his pieces.
I watched in 1987 on tv a fascinating documentary about Pendleton which featured some stills (maybe also video clips) of shoulder riding as part of his choreography. If anyone has that documentary, or can link to it somewhere, I would appreciate it.

In 1978 or 1979, a program featuring 3 different dances performed by Momix was aired on Finnish tv. One of those dances featured wonderful shoulderrides. I was watching it when my dad came home. He tried to change the tv channel and I will always remember, how surprised he was, when I loudly protested. Of course, I never explained to him, why I suddenly was so interested in modern dance...
