Last night I went to see the new movie by Clint Eastwood, "Invictus." It is really about President Nelson Mandela: his bravery, and his efforts to unify his nation. The focus chosen by Eastwood is Mandela's efforts to win over the so far all-white Springbucks rugby team, and to make them greater and more successful.
One fairly early episode is when he sends them to teach rugby to kids of the poorest "townships." At first the Springbucks are reluctant, but they do go, and they are met with so much good-nature, talent and enthusiasm that the ice is broken. So much so, that at the end of one session, several Springbucks end up with black teenagers proudly riding their shoulders.
