Spring break should be coming up very soon. This would be a good time to videotape MTV and any other cable or satellite stations showing spring break features. A few years ago there was some really good riding on MTV, although more recently the directors seem to ignore the excitement of shoulder rides. Maybe they'll have a more enlightened director this year (I hope)!

You get a different MTV in Europe than we do here in the US, don't you? Sometimes it's country specific, I think.

From what I've seen, the European versions are more playful and outrageous.

Hi Liz,

I have been watching mtv since it all started in 1982..I was a teenager and fell in love with this channel which always had it's controversies,but GREAT music..

Over the past many years,mtv has changed it's image quite a bit...Well I guess the music has changed for the worse...this channel seems to concentrate a lot on rap crap,and very weak pop artists who have NO talent and only can lip sinc even durring their live concerts..

Since 1998,they have really tried to change into concervatism..this means they do not want controversy,so they try and play it safe with their shows and things like this...

Now you get and see more risk watching reality shows on regular cable channels..MTv was the first and only channel which would be able to do this,but now it seems everyone else risks things on their stations and shows,but mtv for some strange reason,keeps on trying to show they are a good safe channel to watch...

As for their spring break ..It has been a total joke for over 10 years or so...they now have taped segments which they show...Before,they only concentrated on one city(daytona beach for many years was the best)instead of showing us stupid segments and worthless taped coverage which they have been doing now for a long time as I said for spring break..Another thing,they would show you LIVE things happenning durring spring break like concerts...Now they show you terrible artists who lip sinc..Liz,they may at times may surprise us with a shoulder ride here or there,but it would be so quick they if you blinked,you would miss it...

We can look at this both ways,if my nephews watch this now,they may think this is cool,because they did not watch the good spring breaks of old times..I would bet you not one person would think these spring break shows of today(or music)are better today than they were 20 years ago,that is over the age of 35 or so,or who remembers how good the 80's really were for things like this...

Hello,

I have always wanted to have access to the archives & bonus folders but I don't have a way to contribute other than thru this forum.

My personal additions to movies & TV shows with wom scenes are the following: Temptation Island from a few years ago has 2 great scenes, especially the closup of a girl named Catherine. And then there was the movie with Fred Savage & Candace Cameron with a long cf scene at a lake, but I can't remember the name of this made for TV movie. Also the movie Blow with Johnny Depp & Penelope Cruz has a short scene in a pool. But my favorite has to be the remake of Where the Boys Are. There is a really great scene, including a closeup, of a very pretty girl in a blue-striped bikini on a body-builder guy. They are competing in a Hot Bod contest at Spring Break.

Hope this is interesting to the group, and maybe I can earn bonus membership.

Dear Vaggelli,

I'm sorry to hear that MTV is still likely to prove disappointing this year. I've seen a few old clips from a program called "The Grind" on MTV that had some nice rides included, but apparently they were made years ago.

It amazes me to hear that I'm the only female club member. Hard to believe. I wonder if it's a cultural lag. Nowadays women are lawyers, doctors, surgeons, firefighters, welders (I know one female welder anyway), and lots of other things that used to be restricted to men. Could it be that women in general are still really shy about acknowledging the way they feel about things that give them enormous pleasure, things that men have no trouble at all discussing at length? I guess I've never been much of a "go-alonger." I like to decide things for myself rather that slip consciously or unconsciously into patterns of behavior that don't make much sense to me. I have no hesitation at all about acknowledging the fact that riding shoulders is lots of fun and actually quite stimulating. I'm sure that many of the male members have known women who feel the same way I do when theiy are astride their partners, but perhaps they think it's unladylike to admit as much. That makes no sense to me at all. I also think that Bach's Concerto for Two Violins is absolutely heavenly. I see no reason to hide that fact either. What do you suppose accounts for the difference?

You were absolutely correct about mtv's spring break. Another very disappointing program as it has been for a very long time. It will only improve when they replace the current staff especially the persons in charge of the show. Whoever dreamed up that ridiculoue wild and out deserved to be canned.
BET had springbling on this past week which was much better. At least they are not afraid to show shoulder rides.

recently I spent a weekend at the lake with my youngest daughter & her 2 friends. While they were laying on their rafts soaking up the sun, I was sitting in the shallow water about 5 feet from shore just relaxing. There was a goup of about 6 ladies to my left who were all standing knee deep in the water talking for quite a long time. I thought they were part of some club or group of some kind. I could hear random parts of their conversation but wasn't trying to listen. At one point a middle-aged man walked right past me into the water with a younger lady on his shoulders. I was struck not so much by this event as by what one of the ladies said. As this guy made his way between me and the group and continued out to the deeper water with the younger woman on his shoulders, I was naturally watching and my head was turned toward the ladies group. As the man passes them I heard one of them say, " well you know what they say, if you want to make a man happy, sit on his shoulders." Has anyone else heard of this saying ? and do women really think that is true ?

there is a swedish black and white movie , called " quites days in Clichy " , produced in 1969 . An american editor is with two nice nude girls in the bath . One of them stands behind him and begins to ride on his shoulders , Very nice scene.

I always find it amazing that in more than a hundred years of film making I can't think of more than one film that contains a wow shoulder ride. That is the 1954 Greatest Show on Earth. There is a brief scene when the star of the show roars into meet the circus train in his sports car. The film cuts to a group of acrobats. A blonde, who is about 17 is sitting on the shoulders of another, older blonde, late-20s who is sitting on the shoulders of a larger, older brunette (30s) who is sitting on the shoulders of an older man. They are positioned in the stepdown between two railway carriages and are all holding on to rails. Very good scene though.

I have never seen another genuine wow shoulder ride in a movie, though often fantasise about what actresses I would like to see carrying each other!

Does anyone know of any other wow sr scenes?

pheraps i remember same shoulder rides where the woman was lifter but liftee was child or dwarf(the last movie with tea leoni e jim carry or the old horror movie "freaks" )

The two top girls are sisters, who used to do a head-to-head standing act. They called themselves "The Chaludis".

Blackjac mentioned "Casino Royale" (-67) with Peter Sellers. Near the end of it, is a mff sr scene. Daliah Lavi is one the women and the other one might be Joanna Pettet.

In a movie called "Billy Rose´s Jumbo" (-62), Doris Day sits on Martha Raye´s shoulders, who in her turn is sitting on Jimmy Durante´s shoulders. How real the scene is, that I leave up to each of you to decide.

There´s also a tv movie (forgotten the title) in which 12 women plays cheerleaders. At the beginning of the movie, they pair up for shoulderrides, while the football team enters the field. One of the lifters is a young Rebecca DeMornay.

The best wow shoulderrides on tv, are those on Laverne & Shirley. I´m sure, that you have already seen them?

I know Laverne and Shirley have got shoulder rides but actually I've never seen them. I've tried to find them on the web witrhout success. Do you know where I might access them or does anyone have them to post here?

There´s a short wom shoulder ride in "Breakfast at Tiffany´s" (Blake Edwards, 1961). The sr takes place during a party and it lasts about 6-10 seconds.
