Lucky first shoulder ride at a rave

Hi everyone, so I went to a rave. For the first time, I asked this tall Latino guy for a shoulder ride and he said yes (I was shirtless by the way).  He was friendly and shook my hand after putting me down. After this, I tried asking other guys but they refused. Dunno how I got one from the first guy I asked, but I consider myself lucky.

Would you guys have any tips on how I can ask guys for shoulder rides at raves?

Thanks for your time

Lolzers:

Your profiles states that you are  a male.  I must  ask if you are  gay?  This is not  judgmental  and in fact my best friend is a gay man and I have several gay male friends.
I must ask because  I think  that it's somewhat unusual  for a  man to ask  another man that he doesn't  know,  if he could sit on his shoulders.
I say this non-judgmentally  because I find  nothing  wrong  with a male on  male shoulder riding/sitting situation.
But I think it  might be considered  strange  and in some cases  perhaps dangerous  for a  man to request this service from  a man  he  doesn't know.

I'm a woman  and I would  find  asking a strange man  to let me sit on his shoulders rather awkward.

Re: Lucky first shoulder ride at a rave

Audreyb,

For a setting like a street or a store, it may be strange to ask someone for a shoulder ride. However at a rave it's more acceptable since shoulder riding is commonplace, especially since people want to see the stage. Also, you may say it's dangerous to ask, but I'd say analyzing the person's body language first can help filter out if they're dangerous, including their tone of voice when you speak to them.

Re: Lucky first shoulder ride at a rave

I'm  certain  that there are signs that you might read  in  a  person  to gauge his receptiveness to such a  proposal. I can  usually tell if a man might be receptive to  a given  suggestion or request  by  the way  he looks at me or if he's paying attention to something  going on around him.

I have seen  many  cases of male on male shoulder riding  and sitting  but I  have never personally encountered a case of a  man asking a random  stranger for this service.

Well, it's 2018 now where "strange" things like LGBTQ are gradually becoming a norm. Anyways, would you have tips on how a guy can ask for shoulder rides at raves, AudreyB?

Re: Lucky first shoulder ride at a rave

If any man ever asks me take him on my shoulders, I should wonder WHY HE ASKS THAT but I NEVER be angry (it's difficult to make me angry) so I should answer only politely "I never take men on my shoulders, only women".

If any woman in skirt/dress/bikinies asks me take her on my shoulders, I should say OF COURSE, IT'S MY PLEASURE YOU ARE WELCOME and I should be the happiest man in that planet!

Lolzers:

I was curious  about  your  question so I  asked  the only man I know  who specifically enjoys and participates in riding on  other men's shoulders. This man is  gay and  a very close friend so  I could expect his  honest opinion.

He couldn't think of a single  way to  approach a stranger in a public setting and  ask  the stranger if he  could sit on his shoulders.  He also  confirmed  my opinion that doing so  with  the exception of  asking someone who  was  clearly gay  or had perhaps  had been seen  offering a shoulder ride to another  man  could bring about a  hostile response.   My  friend's  only  advice on  the subject   was that you attend raves and other such  events  with a  friend  that  agrees to let you sit on him.

Sorry I  couldn't be more  helpful.

Re: Lucky first shoulder ride at a rave

AudreyB,

I appreciate you asking your friend. His response helped. Also I'm not surprised of both your answers. However, we miss 100% of the shots we don't take, considering how lucky I was to get a shoulder ride from a friendly guy. The risk of having a hostile response  makes the adventure feel fun and daring, until I find a guy that says yes (which feels rewarding)!

Hey Shoulderman,

I'll be going to Audiotistic in July in California. If you're up, we can meet.
