In ancient Egypt the god Set was often depicted with the body of a human and the head of a horse-so it is entirely possible that the rulers of ancient Egypt would ride on human slaves to show their homage to Set-thus giving credence to Cleopatra riding on slaves.

I remember that Queen Cleopatra rode on Julius Caesar.

She did ride on a sedan chair,but it was carried by slaves on their shoulders-so we are both right.Poetic licence I believe.

I believe it holds true today.  It has been told:

That Saddam Hussein once asked Colin Powell if Americans could find their way to and around Iraq. Colin Powell said that most  Americans could not but unfortunately for Saddam, most that could happened to be United States Marines.

Did you shoulder carry your grandma in the flood from the house to the boat? When you carried your grandma were younger ladies near by admiring you and calling you a "sweety?"  (Remember Ladies, proper behavior by guys must be reinforced.)  (I would carry your grandma above that possibly polluted water out of respect to her and all of her clan. My wife would reinforce my behavior.)

Both comments are true-unfortunatly in the current climate of change-we may have to wait until the current encumberents pass on-the climate will remain as now to the detriment of our children and grandchildren.

With regard to my grandmother-it was a case ot necessity-it had to be done-from house to boatthere were no nubile young wenches present only my uncle.
