Re: new entry

Me too. Ask many from Great Britain. Also, every other native speaker speaks their language better than I speak theirs. Sometimes we also help each other learn a different language.  "Shoulder ride" is one of the first phrases we trade. For example, Como se dichi puesto "shoulder ride" en Italiano?"

Como se dichi puesto, "Welcome to our website?"

CIAO, MARYNO DE SAN MARINO

Welcome to the club ! You certainly know that all freshmen have to pass an exam prior to being accepted  in this noble brotherhood ! In your case it will be an easy one : You will have to carry on your shoulders a Lady of your choice, from some Adriatic beach, up to San Marino center .. ( Not the other way around !!) And deliver in this forum the report of that ride ...

Within 8 days!

Report in Oxford English exclusively!

Or in French!

No, it's no longer fools day!

Action, now !

Enjoy !

ciao ponyxwomen,

Grazie.

Adesso dovrò imparare molte cose, come caricare clips, discussioni ecc. Il problema sarà l'inglese, ma cercherò di farmi capire.

ciao.

How about advertising on internet or newspaper your wish and your location. Leave an email address and phone number where she can call and talk with you to try to figure you out. Then, if she is willing, meet her at her church service and introduce yourself to her and her family. Introduce yourself to her family because if you lack the respect for her and her family to visit her family then you are not good enough for her anyway.  I visited with my wife's family in  in Japan in  1978 to discuss marrying her. Even learned Japanese primarily for this reason. They gave their blessing. The end of May will make 29 years of marriage.

Why not advertise via the internet or a newspaper?  My son found himself a fine lady for a wife on the internet. They are both living with me and my wife right now.  Also, this way you do not have to mention this wish to be shoulder ridden to  every last gal or to many that  you talk with but only with the gals that love to shoulder ride. It would be better if she enjoyed participating in this website with you or at least does not object to nor gives you a hard time for doing so.  Maybe you can screen each other first through email, then telephone, then at church. Why at church? Maybe her family is not yet ready to give you her home address.  They need to know that you will cooperate with them in protecting their daughter and princess.  But before you two ever decide to marry, if you do, you may first want to make sure you agree on how to manage money and the behavior of your future children. Disagreement over these two issues are the primary causes of divorce. This could even lessen your shoulder riding time.  No, you did not ask for this advice but I have endured some heartache in my life and had wished somebody had advised me before those painful incidences.

In the Bible it is written, "Ask and you shall receive."  In my experience, ask and you shall receive sometimes. Ask more often and you receive more often. Ask never and you receive never.

Go for it. You have little to lose and much to gain.

Because I speak Spanish I understand the phrase, "Il problema sara' l'inglese," (the problem will be English).

The problem is seldom a difficulty with difference in language. The problem is usually a lack of patience and perseverance.  My wife to be had much difficulty with English when I first met her and I spoke no Japanese but with patience and perseverance we communicated, she learned better English, and I learned enough Japanese to get around Japan by my self.  Hopefully with patience and perseverance she will learn to like shoulder riding.

Because I am patient and persistent I communicate with speakers of different languages better than most do.
Yes, Maryno, to this group, benvenuto. (Bien venido.) (Welcome).

Re: new entry

Ciao Sam

(Off topic: not shoulderride matter)

I would give congratulations for your patience and persistence! These are great gift and I'm happy you have. But not all people have these. I'm in the same situation of Maryno. Personally I have too much little time to follow my passion (WOM), and often if I think my fatigue to write in english language, sometimes I avoid to do. Furthermore I avoid to read many long and difficult english writes.
My natural language is italian and I can express myself at 100% only in this language. I'm lucky do not yet offended anyone with my english because I perhaps have had written wrong.
Of course we italians are penalized because our language have very limited diffusion, not like Spanish, French, English, or also Chinese, but this is a oriental language (I think Spanish is the most diffused, also more than English). For example, if I have well understand, you known Japanese and Spanish language, but not italian.

Re: new entry

I believe that English is still clearly ahead of Spanish, and French comes third.

However, the French have a big advantage : A vast majority of abstract words in English are French words, thanks to two major historical events : 1)  Official language in England was French from 1066 to around 1400. 2) More importantly, all along the 17th and 18th century, when French was the dominant language of the western world, the English proved to be very pragmatic, and simply "imported" thousands of words from the French, instead of re-inventing them in English ...

Nowadays, I don't know what the English would do, but I know the Fench are fighting a lot of hopeless rear-guard battles to prevent English words from "polluting" French ! Which is fine, when there is a French word already available, but is, imo, stupid when there is none ! .... So, we keep re-inventing the wheel, sorry, the word, but in 90% cases it's a flop, and the English < In most cases, American > word prevails .....

Back to SR .... French has no word for "shoulder-ride" but I bet that, should SR become as popular as we all wish,  we would certainly not use that f..... english word .... ;( ............ !!!!

Re: new entry

I understand and respect that sometimes you get tired of communicating in another language. I too get tired of communicating in Spanish or Italian. Maybe you get more tired than I because you have worked harder than I to communicate in another language besides your native language.

You are correct to write that I can communicate effectively only in English, Spanish, and Japanese, not in Italian. This will change with patience and persistence.

Those who choose to be offended by your mistakes when using English are almost always ignorant ones who have made no attempt to learn another language and therefore have no understanding of your difficulty. Nobody has ever given me a hard time for my usage of Spanish or Japanese so Spanish and Japanese speakers deserve more respect than English speakers who get offended by your mistakes in English.

A gal who gives you a hard time for making mistakes in English may not touch me, talk with me, or shoulder ride me no matter how pretty she is.

Ladies, brains, personality, and character ARE also valued traits, not just beauty.

Re: new entry

The best thing to do- is to communicate in the Queen's English-be like it used to be-if you dont speak English then hard luck.

Some hopes!!!.

50,000 years ago-it was a series of grunts and signs-have we made any progress.

I wonder.
