Re: I wanna job where u lift someone

Believe it or not, there was such a job here in Canada...It was in a city in Vancouver...

you would not get paid for it though...

Basically it was for women to need a shoulder lift at some type of event as concert,or somewhere where she would need to see better..then this company group would call some guy durring that evenning or day and tell him that he would need to meet up with this woman at some certain place..all you would have to do is apply to this group, and they would hire you for free..The problem was that 98% were men and only 2 % were women in this group..I had talked to the owner a few years back about it..I think most people know of it by now..It was the shoulder ridding club..It died a couple years ago with lack of women to volounteer, and also very few events going on in vancouver to speak off..

as for my photo postings,I am on strike and refuse to go on webshots..I had written to them a couple times, and not once did they reply back to me..so I have been getting my photos from elsewhere over the last 8 months or so..the majority of them have now come through flickr..

Also,my hours are getting crazier and crazier at work..we don't have enough time to finish our work, and now we are forced to bring it home with us..as you can see this also takes up a lot of time for me to even search for things on the net..

Scotty & Louie, I know what you mean when you say you have so much work load and not enough free time on your hands..I'm in that sasme category now....that is it for now..

Re: I wanna job where u lift someone

Vaggelli,

I remember the "shoulder riding club" too. Basically it is a good idea to bring together people with the same interest, for instance getting girls a ride at a concert by another member (male) of that club so that both are happy for sure. But as you mentioned the percentage of males to females was propably 98:2% and so the activity of that group ended sooner or later.

The problem in my opinion is not that there are not enough females interested in getting shoulder rides.
I suppose - and I might be wrong but that's what I believe, that a girl usually just need to ask her boyfriend, husband, befriended male or female companian or even a stranger to get a real good chance to get a lift (e.g. concert). So a female usually doesn't need the help of the internet for that.

The question is what could be done to get noticeably more female members to such a community. And that's also a question we should truly deal with in our group. Maybe we could start an own thread about this topic to collect ideas which could help to get a better gender balance in here.

Regards,

Louie
