Acro Yoga - How to get shoulder rides

Hello everyone,

I?m new to Ultimate Shoulder Rides. I?ve been interested in shoulder rides for as long as I can remember. I?ve always dreamed of sitting on someone?s shoulders ? I just think it?s thrilling and exciting to be up there!

For a long time, I wondered how to get more involved in shoulder riding. Then I discovered the world of acroyoga. Acroyoga is a partner practice that combines elements of yoga, acrobatics, and balance. It typically involves two main roles: a base and a flyer. The base is the person who provides support and stability (either lying down or standing), and the flyer is the person who is lifted or balanced on top. Shoulder rides are one of the standing positions in acroyoga, often referred to as ?sitting on shoulders.?

There are both classes and jams in the acroyoga community. Classes are structured and led by an instructor who teaches specific skills and progressions. This is a great way to learn proper technique and safety. Jams are more informal, open practice sessions where people gather to train, experiment, and work on skills together. There?s usually no formal teaching at a jam ? it?s more of a collaborative space to practice, meet partners, and try new things.

My recommendation is to begin with basic classes and focus on building trust and rapport through simple L-basing poses (where the base lies on their back and supports the flyer with their legs). Once you feel comfortable and confident, you can progress to standing poses like shoulder sits.

To find acroyoga near you, try searching on Google or Facebook by typing ?acroyoga? followed by your nearest city (for example, ?Acroyoga Dallas?).

I hope this helps others give and receive more shoulder rides! Since starting acroyoga, I?ve had 25 shoulder rides and counting.

Re: Acro Yoga - How to get shoulder rides

Welcome !!

I too share this concept!, and have seen one other! [ search 'acro' to find the other story.]

I also have the lifelong desire, except to be the carrier!

That's a great success with your experience count!

I hope readers can respond to this idea!

I'm sure you would have received a few likes for this idea

[but to upgrade the system to register 'likes'  It would take a lot of work (and cost) to switch server hosts.]

My experience ;  " i received a Hug&kiss for carrying a lady to her buss stop yesterday."
