How to ride comfortably?

I am a male rider, 181cm and 75kg, I have ridden quite a few shoulders over the years, but every time when I ride, i am always a bit nervous, my thighs won't relax, perhaps because I am afraid to fall, can anyone tell me how to ride more comfortably and be more relaxed while riding?

Tony

When I have a nervous rider on my shoulders or one who doesn't trust me ... I try to make him feel safe. I show him that I can lift his weight. Show him that I can hold out even if we get a little off balance.

Re: How to ride comfortably?

Thank you Valencian, whoever rides you is very lucky, i hope to ride you one day to improve my riding skill big_smile

But what recommendation do you give to the rider? what do you suggest him to do to better balance himself or to be more relaxed?

Yes, I am tall (180cm) and skinny. I am not extremely muscular but I have strength. The point is in knowing how to use it. The carrier's job is to be strong and balanced.
I've been in the bottom of a tower (WoWoM) and I want to do it again haha. It would be my pleasure to give you a long shoulder ride and for the two of us to learn from each other smile

@luckyone840
I try to make my rider enjoy as much as possible. With me you could improve your skills a lot. I'm a professional horse haha.
My advice would be ... go little by little.If you don't feel safe, don't force yourself to do it. Try shoulder riding near a wall or tree first so you don't fall. And trust your carrier, he won't let you down. And when you are more confident, leave the tree and walk without support.

There are differences between riding a bareback horse and riding a horse using saddle, stirrups, and reins. You will be more comfortable if you ride seated on a saddle, feet stepping on the stirrups and driving your horse with reins.

Re: How to ride comfortably?

I find that tucking my feet behind my carrier's back and holding onto their head on occasion helps me feel more comfortable and better balanced.

Hi I’m a pony and my rider is a French gendarme. He always rides me with his uniform on (bleu flared breeches and tall black leather boots with spurs) and in order to keep his balance he always tucks his boots on my back. He also uses reins to handle me and keep his balance. I’m 169 cm and 62 kg my gendarme rider is 184 cm and 76 kg.

Re: How to ride comfortably?

This might be heresy on this site, but... if you don't feel easy shoulder riding why not ride on their backs, ie piggyback? I only like bigger on smaller, and once the weight difference gets big, piggybacking might be the safer option.
