Walter, just a couple minor corrections:

you transcribed "катание на плечах" (riding on shoulders) as "katanije na pleuach." The latter word (meaning shoulders) would actually be transcribed into English as "plechakh," I believe. The "ч" letter in Cyrillic makes a "ch" sound, as in "chin." Also, the letter "x" in cyrillic is like your "ch" in German, as in Bach, but we don't really have that sound in English, so we usually transcribe it as "kh", because "ch" in English makes a different sound.  The word "девушка" (girl) would be transcribed into English as "devushka."

I think your transliteration was actually fine for German, but I just wanted to clarify some of the sounds for us English speakers. I should point out though that I'm not fluent in Russian, I just studied it in college, so I might have made a mistake!

Thanks both to you, I must say I am really astonished by your language skills; I wouldn't have thought that so many members here can speak Russian especially since Walter is German and Wilkster US American I believe.
