Shoulder riding in the street
I'd just like to share with you something I noticed today. I was driving in a coastal village in Sweden, where I live, the summer weather was nice and I noticed several beautiful women walking by there, when suddenly, walking across the street in front of me, I noticed a young couple, probably teenagers, she was rather short and slim with very long hair, riding her boyfriend on his shoulders. Unfortunately, I had to continue driving as I did not want to cause a traffic jam... I noticed they walked past a little square and then further towards the beach area. This is the first time I see this kind of shoulder riding activity in public. Am I right to conclude that this type of public shoulder riding is becoming more and more frequent..? In any case, it was a nice moment indeed.

You ought to buy yourself an in-car dashboard video camera, Nick. They're not very expensive and you attach the camera inside the top/middle of your windscreen. As soon as you start your car the camera records your journey looking out from your windscreen - so if you had such a camera fitted you might have had a video of what you saw. In my opinion (from the number of Youtube videos showing shoulder riding and music festivals where this activity is now commonplace) I'd say that shoulder riding (and shoulder carrying) by those in their teens and early twenties is happening more frequently on or near beaches and any places where leisure activities or games are taking place.
